• Description: Provides a rapid rehousing permanent housing program. Assistance is provided to locate housing and to help pay the initial rent plus rent deposit and utility deposit. Also provides ongoing support services and case management to meet housing and financial needs. Also offering temporary homeless financial assistance and housing. The temporary program will pay for a motel room for up to 16 consecutive days while the recipient is searching for permanent housing.

• Eligibility: Rapid rehousing program is for families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Must be enrolled in CALWORKS and must have dependent children. For the purposes of HSP, a person is defined as “at-risk of homelessness” when they: Are experiencing housing instability, including recipients who have not yet received an eviction notice, and for whom housing instability would be a barrier to self-sufficiency or child well-being; Temporary homeless assistance program benefits can be received only once in 12 month period, unless the individual has suffered a disaster related loss or domestic violence. Have no subsequent permanent residence secured; and lack resources or support networks needed to stabilize their unique housing situation and secure subsequent permanent housing.
